SAN LUIS OBISPO CONCOURS: FUN SHOW!

Our man on the Left Coast, Jim Palam, spends a fun day at a laid-back car show that raises money for a worthy cause. Some 90 miles North of Santa Barbara, CA is the bucolic Madonna Inn Meadows, a lakeside park in San Luis Obispo that hosts an annual Concours to benefit the local Hospice. Not your typical “stuffy” high-end Concours, the event is a cross between a traditional Concours and friendly car club show. Last Sunday was a picture-perfect day and I couldn’t think of a better destination...

CLASSICS TO RACECARS: SULLY HISTORIC!

Mike Matune celebrates Father’s Day at the 40th anniversary of cars, music and  food at the Sully Historic Site in Virginia. The Sully Antique Car Show held on the grounds of the Sully Historic Site is a Fathers’ Day tradition. Built between 1794- 1799 by Robert E. Lee’s uncle, the site had been a plantation and would remain in farming until acquired by the FAA to build Dulles Airport in the late-1950s. Those plans were thwarted by public outcry and today it is under the control of the...

CLASSIC WOODYS: MUCH MORE THAN A BOOK!

Author, photographer and consummate car guy, David Fetherston, creates a book that’s also collectible art. Before the Internet, self-publishing, publishing-on-demand and China being the epicenter of book printing, coffee table books had special meaning. They were typically large in format, printed on incredibly expensive coated stock, quality bindings, and subjects that usually ranged from art, architecture and antiques to fashion, jewelry and collectible cars. Fast forward and now just abou...
