Bespoke twin-turbocharged, Coyote-powered ’69 Mustang Mach 1 boasts modern chassis, suspension and braking features.
Oklahoma-based custom coach-builder Classic Recreations has started limited-production of its latest vehicle – a ‘69 Mustang Mach 1, nicknamed “Hitman.” It’s the first Mach 1 produced as part of an exclusive licensing deal with Ford Motor Company that includes iconic Boss 429, Boss 302 and Mach 1 Mustangs. The Classic Recreations HITMAN:1,000 HORSEPOWER MUSTANG Mach 1 starts with a real ‘69 Mustang Mach 1 body, restored to factory-new condition before receiving its intercooled, twin-turbocharged, 1,000 horsepower Ford 32-valve Coyote V8.
A Tremec six-speed manual transmission, nine-inch Posi rear end, tubular sub-frame connectors and state-of-the-art engine management systems work together to put the Coyote’s power to the ground. Breathing has been improved thanks to custom stainless steel turbo manifolds and dual stainless steel MagnaFlow mufflers. A Vaporworx electric fuel pump housed in a Rick’s Tanks 18-gallon fuel cell delivers fuel.
The HITMAN:1,000 HORSEPOWER MUSTANG Mach 1’s suspension includes coil-overs up front, a Total Control rear coil-over system and front and rear sway bars. A power rack and pinion steering system helps to keep the driver in control at all times. For maximum traction, Classic Recreations has mounted 18-inch lightweight American Racing Wheels, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 2s (225/40R18 front and 315/30R18 rear). Wilwood six-piston calipers with slotted and cross-drilled rotors are on all four corners.
A BeCool aluminum crossflow radiator supported by two electric cooling fans helps keep the engine cool while an “Old Air” air conditioning system keeps the Mach 1’s occupants comfortable. Other amenities include a JVC head unit wired to a Kicker amp, speakers and subwoofer. A woodgrain aluminum steering wheel, five-point seat belts, 200 mph speedo, TMI Mustang interior panels and a cosmetic rollbar complete the conversion. A factory-style Mach 1 front chin spoiler and rear deck lid spoiler coupled with Mach 1 badges makes the car stand out and stay true to its timeless design.
