The last of 62 built, MASERATI MCXTREMA: ULTIMATE RACING WEAPON, with approximately 20 being shipped to North America, has just arrived at Maserati Tampa.
After dynamic testing at Maserati Corse’s test track by test & development driver, Andrea Bertolini, and final delivery prep at Maserati Corse, designer Klaus Busse, Bertolini, and Corse executives “signed” the car, and off it went to Milano Malpensa airport for its trans-Atlantic journey.
The MCXtrema’s route from Modena to Sarasota Café Racer Mike Moss included stops at JFK airport in NYC, where it was offloaded from an Alitalia cargo plane to a bonded warehouse, then trucked to Newark, NJ, where it cleared customs, and finally to a Reliable truck headed to Maserati Tampa, FL. It’s the first MASERATI MCXTREMA: ULTIMATE RACING WEAPON sold by the dealership, and General Manager Chris Rogers guided the Beast from Modena down from the enclosed trailer.
“We’re the fourth largest Maserati dealership for sales in North America and the number one MC20 sports car dealer in the world, and I wouldn’t have missed this day for anything,” said Chris! “I don’t remember ever being this excited about a new car arrival, so it was thrilling for me as well as for Mike.”
Designed by Klaus Busse, head of Maserati Design, the MCXtrema is a 2,866-pound, track-only Hypercar powered by the 730-horsepower, 3.0-liter twin-turbo Nettuno V6 engine. MCXtrema production has been limited to 62 units, the last of which was ordered by Michael Moss, who has joined Maserati Corse’s exclusive Circle of Ambassadors. He will be racing it in the International GT Racing Series (GTX category) with engineering and track support from Roush Competition Engines, Livonia, MI, and RM Motorsports, Wixom, MI.
After dynamic testing at Maserati Corse’s test track, Moss’ livery, #33, was applied, and the last MASERATI MCXTREMA: ULTIMATE RACING WEAPON was prepared for shipping to the U.S.
