Limited-edition ’06 Ford Tungsten & Heritage GTs celebrated iconic wins at Le Mans for Ford and rarely come up for sale. Here’s a pair that have hardly been driven.
Bill Kolb, Jr. has for more than half-a-century been involved in the carguy world as a hot rodder, drag racer, innovator, new car salesman and Ford and Subaru new car dealer. During the 1960s he was best known for campaigning Ford factory racecars: A 427 Galaxie Lightweight, followed by 427 Thunderbolt. Working with Carroll Shelby and Ford Motor Company, Kolb created a Shelby dealership within Gotham Ford in New York City. He went on to become the top Shelby Mustang and Cobra salesman in the country.
Bill Kolb’s legendary carguy career was documented in a chapter in FORD TOTAL PERFORMANCE, a coffee-table book dedicated to Ford’s legendary racing and street performance heritage.
Total performance is still a way of life for Bill Kolb, Jr. who parlayed a passion for racing and high-performance cars into a legendary career. A master at building and marketing specialty vehicles, he has kept his decades-old Ford connection alive with a pair of ’06 Ford GTs. Bill and his wife Maryann’s 610-mile Tungsten Grey GT was introduced to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the GT40 1-2-3 win at Le Mans in 1966. The blue and orange Heritage model, with 1,940 miles, celebrates the successful GT40 that won Le Mans in 1968 and 1969. Both GTs are like new and are equipped with every factory option available in 2006.
