Artist Warren Reinecker spent his entire career working for General Motors, retiring in 2006 as the lead Corporate and Brand Identity designer. This unique show includes recent acquisitions of his work.
Curated by GM’s Design Archive & Special Collection, WARREN REINECKER GENERAL MOTORS AUTOMOTIVE DESIGNER showcases the evolutionary creative process of automotive design. Included are original futuristic Concepts from the 1950s-1960s, plus logo and badging designs for production automobiles.
Reinecker started at GM Design as a junior designer working on graphics in 1964, after graduating from Art Center College of Design. His first assignments included the creation of emblems and badging for production vehicles. In 1974, he was promoted to assistant chief designer and moved to the Corporate ID Studio and worked on corporate logos and the dealer signage program. In the 1990s he returned to the Automotive Graphics Studio where he spent the rest of his 42-year career.
Warren Reinecker also enjoyed his time in the theater. He was a talented creative set designer and actor with leading roles in several Detroit-area productions. His last starring role was in The Dresser where he received high praise in the Detroit Free Press.
