MONTEREY 2013: OFF THE BEATEN PATH!

We sent our friend Jim Palam to Monterey to come up with stuff not necessarily covered by the usual suspects. Palam never disappoints!
‘You Snooze You Lose.’ Peter Inshaw’s ’63 Alfa Giuliett Spider 1600 and friend in the pits
at Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway on Saturday.

‘It’s A Gamble.’ #22 BMW 3.5 CSL makes an unplanned early departure from Laguna
Seca Saturday afternoon. Ouch!

‘

‘Available In Mobster Black. Talk about attitude: This ’62 Dual Ghia L6.4 Coupe held court in the outside staging area, Friday afternoon at RM Auctions. Note: $300 viewer entry fee at RM! Car Guy Chronicles Pit Pass got me into the courtyard out back, and no further!

‘Take It To The Streets.’ This perfect, clay-color lacquered open bed Rat Coupe/Pickup was parked three blocks away from the downtown action Saturday afternoon. It was a welcome break from all the “gold-chain” cars dominating Monterey streets!

‘Lucky Levitation.’ Jeff Lewis’ ultra-slick #151 ‘88 Argo JM-19cC2 Coupe gets ready to
take off at Laguna Seca on Saturday.

‘Cruise The World for $7 Million!’ Peter Dunkel of Dunkel Bros Machinery Moving brought his crazy expensive, ‘08 Ford F750 “World Cruiser” to the Mecum Auction parking lot on Friday. The Dunkels are the guys who moved the Space Shuttle Endeavor from LAX to the
California Space Center on LA surface streets.

‘Yo, Taxi!’ So after all the action in Monterey last week, some lucky racers got to put their feet up and ride back home from Mazda Raceway in this colorful and spacious DeSoto cab.
