The Squadra Corse delivers high performance and brings the fascination of motor racing to the street-legal world. This new and most extreme model in the Gallardo lineup is based on the Gallardo Super Trofeo, the successful racecar from the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, the world’s fastest one-make series. Squadra Corse refers to the department within Automobili Lamborghini, which manages all motorsport activities: GT3 to the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championship Series in Europe, Asia and America.
With the new front and rear bumpers, rear diffuser and the rear wing from the Super Trofeo racecar, Lamborghini has increased the aerodynamic load of the Gallardo threefold. Rear wing is made from a carbon composite, as is the quick-release engine cover from Super Trofeo Series cars.
With carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon bucket seats, carbon door cards, lightweight wheels, no radio, and Alcantara and carbon trim in place of leather, the SC is 155 pounds lighter than a regular Gallardo. The Squadra Corse’s 5.2-litre V10 picks up an additional 10 horsepower, generating 570 horsepower. Total production is limited to a maximum of 50 cars.
Weighing in dry at 2,954 pounds, the limited production Corse will sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds, 0 to 125 mph in 10.4 seconds, topping out at 199 mph. This is the race-inspired run-out special for Lambo’s brilliant baby supercar, ahead of its replacement in 2014.
