LOMPOC POLICE REVVED-UP: CAR SHOW & BENEFIT!

Lompoc’s 11th annual fundraiser at Ryon Park for Special Olympics draws cool cars & big crowds. Jim Palm was on the ground to capture some highlights.
Study in Color & Power: Blown ’32 Ford snugged and secured on a customized ’51 Chevy 5700 “COE” hauler. The owner of this rig has a sense of humor. When you peek over the big shiny grille you see a three-horsepower scooter motor!

Overhauled! On the grass were two Chip Foose designed Chevy’s that were featured on the Overhaulin’  show. The standout was this  ’67 Camaro that belongs to a Lompoc preacher. (Season 6, Episode 3). The preacher’s Camaro was originally a six-cylinder car. The Foose team dropped in this tastefully detailed 480-horsepower 427 Chevy.

My personal favorite was this primer gray Nixon Bros. Special. A 350 Chevy Vortec crate motor powers this slung-low ’32 coupe.

Tasty! Transparent orange gas lines look like pulled-candy. A nice contrast against the flat black sheet metal and orange and chrome motor.

Who You Gonna Call? How ’bout this Creamsicle-color ’73 Caddy North Park Hospital ambulance.

This stock 396 Camaro is all original and features 396/375 big-block power, four-speed, plus rare tilt steering wheel and body-color front bumper.

OK Buckaroos, here’s your perfect Bronco. Absolutely love the simple style and function of this early sport-utility vehicle.

Super clean, no frills. Those were the days.
