HOT CARS & COOL DAY: IMPA SPRING BRAKE!

The International Motor Press Association (IMPA) hosts its annual Ride & Drive
in New York’s beautiful Bear Mountain State Park.
More than 50 years old, IMPA is the oldest, largest and most influential organization of automotive journalists and public relations professionals in the U.S. Founded in New York City,
I have been an active member since Day One, when I started freelancing to hot rod and custom car magazines in the late-1950s.

In addition to monthly meetings, IMPA hosts two annual driving events: Test Day at a racetrack in the Fall and Spring Brake at Bear Mountain State Park, Harriman, NY in the Spring. While driving on a racing circuit is always a blast, real world driving has its advantages. In the case of Spring Break we drive exciting cars through the rolling hills overlooking the Hudson River.

Yesterday I spent a day at Spring Brake and here are three of my favorite vehicles, ranging from a raucous Bad Boy Hot Wheels Camaro to a silent, spectacular Rolls-Royce Phantom convertible. I also got a chance to drive one of my all-time favorites: Cadillac’s kick-ass, take-no-prisoners CTS station wagon, powered by the 556-horsepower, 6.2-liter supercharged LSA small-block. Hey, it’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it!
