CLASSIC FERRARI 2,000-K RUN: PARIS TO LA ROCHELLE!

Some of the most beautiful exotics in the world competed in the
Tour Auto Optic 2000.
From Paris to La Rochelle, at the wheel of the most beautiful classic cars in the world, they traveled round the Hexagon, passing through places and race tracks that have played as much of a part in the history of France as in the history of motor racing. That was the experience enjoyed by those taking part in last week’s 22nd run of the Tour Auto Optic 2000. The most fortunate? Definitely the 32 crews that tackled the event at the wheel of some of the most amazing Ferraris from the 1960s and 1970s: the 275 GTB, the 250 GT Tour de France, the 365 GTB/4 Competizione and the Group IV 308.

They started from Paris the day after the amazing gathering at the Grand Palais, where the LaFerrari was shown to the French public for the first time. The Tour Auto caravan headed for Le Mans, before wending its way to Orleans, Magny-Cours, Vichy, Albi and Limoges, before ending up at the port of La Rochelle.

On the whole, the 1,243-mile event, sponsored by Scuderia Ferrari partner, Hublot, brought out over 100,000 fans cheering on participants. The British crew of Andrew Beverley and Mike Humphreys, above, won the Group 1 category in their 308.
